The Municipal Bureau of Statistics recently released the primary data of 1% population sample survey in Changzhou in 2015. According to statistics, the city's resident population reached 4.7 million, up 110,000 or 2.40% over 2010, an average annual growth rate of 0.47%.
According to statistics, among the city's resident population, there are 2.39 million male population, accounting for 50.85%, and 2.31 million female population, accounting for 49.15%. The number of children aged 0 to 14 years was 530,000, accounting for 11.28%; the number persons aged 15 to 64 years was 362,000, accounting for 77.02%; and the population aged 65 years and older was 550,000, accounting for 11.70%. Compared with the statistics registered in the sixth national census in 2010, the share of children aged 0 to 14 years dropped 0.23 percentage points, the share of persons aged 15 to 64 years fell 1.69 percentage points, and the share of persons aged 65 years and older increased by 1.92 percentage points.
In addition, among the city's resident population, there are 910,000 college-educated adults (including diploma holders), 820,000 secondary-school educated persons, 167,000 middle-school educated persons and 890,000 primary-school educated persons. Compared with the statistics registered in the sixth national census, the number of college-educated persons per 100,000 people rose from 11,716 to 19,362.
