Chinese National Day is celebrated on October 1st every year to commemorate the founding of People’s Republic of China. National Day holiday is fixed at October 1–7 with adjacent weekend days being mandatory workdays to make up for the lost time. This period is also called "golden week" during which people will have a week off to reunite with families and take trips.
In 2020, the holiday dates are Oct. 1 to 8, one day longer than normal years because of the Mid-autumn Day falling on Oct. 1 this year. People will be on duty on Oct. 10 (Saturday) and Oct. 11 (Sunday).
