On May 11, vice mayor Gao Qing met with Sakane Masahiro, president of Japan Komatsu Corporation at the Traders Fudu Hotel. Komatsu (Changzhou) Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. invested USD 102 million to build a new factory in Changzhou hi-tech zone, which covers a total area of 280,000 square meters. The relocation will be completed in July. And the output of excavators is expected to reach 9,140 sets in this year, involving sales revenue of RMB 9.3 billion.
The sales revenue of Komatsu Corporation reached RMB 112 billion in 2010. In 1995, Komatsu and Chang Lin (Changzhou) co-invested to set up Komatsu (Changzhou) Construction Machinery Co., Ltd., which specializes in manufacturing and sales of construction machineries and spare parts. Over the past 16 years, Komatsu (Changzhou) Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. has achieved great development and its sales revenue reached RMB 6.4 billion in 2010.
According to reports, the proportion of Chinese market amounted for 25% of the Komatsu’s total sales, far more than that in Japanese mainland and the United States.
