On March 24, Trina Solar signed the strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai Microsystem and Information Technology Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).
Shanghai Microsystem and Information Technology Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has a history of more than 80 years. In recent years, it has made outstanding achievements in wireless sensor networks, micro-systems, solar photovoltaic and related materials and devices.
The bilateral strategic cooperation focuses on common development of the world's leading thin-film silicon / crystalline silicon heterojunction cells. The goal is to increase the cell efficiency from the 17% to 21% and further increase the generating capacity of photovoltaic systems. The research plan is led by Dr. Liu Zhengxin, the winner of Thousands of People Plan from the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. It will integrate the strong foundation of CAS and the technological strength of Trina Solar to enhance the domestic photovoltaic industry's capacity for independent innovation.
The production-teaching-research cooperation between CAS and Changzhou has been increasingly deepened. The subordinate institutes have set up 13 sub centers in Changzhou Science and Education Town.
