“In 2012, the city's urban and rural residents’ incomes continued to grow. The per capita disposable income of urban residents and the per capita net income of rural residents are expected to respectively reach 33,706 yuan and 16,766 yuan, each increased by about 13%.” These three figures were stated in the Report on the Work of the Government by Mayor Yao Xiaodong at the Second Session of the Fifth Changzhou Municipal People’s Congress. The per capita disposable income of urban residents and the per capita net income of rural residents together are referred to as the “residents’ income,” which can best reflect the wealth of the residents; while the fundamental purpose of basically realizing modernization is to let people live a prosperous and happy life.
