Changzhou Library, founded in 1904, was one of the earliest public libraries in China. Today the library covers an area of 12,000 square meters, with a collection of 1,700,000 books, including more than 100,000 ancient books. The library receives over 1,300,000 visitors per year.
This year, the new venue of Changzhou Library which takes an area of 40,000 square meters has commenced construction. Branches in Wujin, Tianning and 22 townships / sub-districts will be established within the year.
