It was learned on March 2nd that according to the data released by the Municipal Bureau of Statistics, as of the end of 2014, the resident population of Changzhou reached 4.7 million (4.6964 million accurately), an increase of 0.09% over the previous year. The urban population achieved 3.2264 million, accounting for 68.7% of the total resident population.
From a regional perspective, Wujin homes most of the resident population (1.6086 million), and Liyang is ranked second with a resident population of 760,200.
From the situation of Jiangsu Province, Changzhou ranks fourth in urbanization rate following Nanjing (80.92%), Wuxi (74.47%) and Suzhou (73.95%), 3.49 percentage points higher than the provincial average.
