According to the survey, Changzhou’s consumer price index (CPI) hit 103.1 in May, fueled mainly by food costs. The prices of freshwater fish, fresh vegetables and pork were up 24.8%, 8.6% and 6% respectively, pulling respectively the overall index up 0.2, 0.2 and 0.1 percentage points; the prices of staple foods and dishes (dining out) rose 14.2% and 9.9% respectively, pulling the overall index up 0.7 percentage points.
