On January 7, Yan Li, Party Secretary of Changzhou, paid a special visit to Shanghai to meet with Liu Shaoyong, General Manager of China Eastern Airlines Group, and Ma Xulun, General Manager of China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited. The two sides achieved intent of cooperation on setting up a base of China Eastern Airlines in Changzhou Airport.
Yan expressed gratitude to the Eastern Airlines for their support to Changzhou over these years. He briefed the overall economic and social progress of Changzhou as well as the current conditions of Changzhou Airport. He hoped that the Eastern Airlines will have further cooperation with Changzhou and increase investment in Changzhou Airport. He stated that the Municipal Committee of CPC and Municipal People’s Government will spare no efforts to support the construction of the base of the Eastern Airlines.
Liu and Ma expressed that the Eastern Airlines will keep supporting the development of Changzhou’s civil aviation and Changzhou Airport. They will work together with Changzhou Municipal People’s Government on the target of the annual passenger throughput of over 5 million and an increase of 20% according to the 13th Five-Year Plan on Changzhou Airport.
According to preliminary plan, the first-phase project of the base covers an area of about 28 mu (around 1.75 hectares). It will be applied with localized management and will play a positive role in promoting the future development of Changzhou Airport.
