On Feb. 24, it is informed from Liyang Administration for Culture, Radio, Film and Sport that Changzhou’s Yangqiao Village and Shazhang Village are rated in the recently announced list of the eighth group of provincial historical and cultural towns/villages by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government.
According to Liyang Administration for Culture, Radio, Film and Sport, Shazhang Village, Kunlun Sub-district, Liyang was originally built 700 years ago in the Yuan Dynasty. The village is the birthplace of the Chinese surname Xie. The village boasts rich historic and cultural resources, including the cultural relics of Heci Puhua Tomb under provincial protection, 43 historically reserved houses and 18 traditional architectures. There are also many stone carving relics and ancient trees, as well as intangible cultural heritages like Shazhang Lion Dance, Gongtang Kaimen (gate-opening etiquette of ancient Chinese court), etc.
