Recently, the First International Conference on Learning Cities was held in Beijing. As the only representative of prefecture-level city in China, Mr. Wang Chengbin, vice mayor of Changzhou, made a presentation about Changzhou’s experience to 102 member states and more than 500 representatives of UNESCO.
Changzhou was the first in China that established the Lifelong Education Office, based on which the city initiated a website called “Changzhou Lifelong Education Online,” and carried out a series of "one-stop" learning services such as course selection, online learning, etc. Changzhou also pioneered in the establishment of a citywide system of "Lifelong Learning Card." Last year, the average years of schooling of the main working-age population in Changzhou reached 10.25 years, while that of the new labor force reached 14.71 years.
