On the afternoon of May 22, the city released the elderly population information as of the end of 2011. Changzhou’s elderly population has reached 734,200, and women are significantly more than men.
Three municipalities (districts) have largest elderly population with the age over 60, namely, Qishuyan, Wujin and Jintan. The proportion reached 23.16%, 21.49% and 20.75% respectively.
As of the end of 2011, the city has 242 elderly people beyond the age of hundred, including 64 men and 178 women.
