On April 28, the results of the 24th China Youth May Fourth Medal Awards were announced. On the occasion of the May 4th Youth Day, 10 Chinese were awarded the "May 4th Medal" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China (CYLC) and the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) for their outstanding contribution to the country's reform and opening up as well as the socialist modernization drive.

One of the winners is Ding Lianghao, a native of Jintan, Changzhou, currently the assistant director of Fangjiaying Fire Station in Gulou, Nanjing. He risked his life to save lives in rescue and search missions to the Wenchuan earthquake, Jingjiang Deqiao Storage explosion, Tianjiayi Chemicals explosion and other disasters and accidents. He has been awarded the first-class merit twice, the second-class merit once and the third-class merit eight times. Last year, Ding was invited to participate in the parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

The May 4th Medal is the top award for young Chinese people. The purpose of the award is to inspire and lead Chinese youths to inherit and carry forward the glorious tradition of the May 4th Movement, and devote themselves to the building of the country.
