布法羅市（Buffalo）是美國紐約州西部伊利湖東岸港口城市（又稱水牛城），位于尼亞加拉河南口，市區(qū)面積108.8平方公里，人口28萬。布法羅是兩位美國總統(tǒng)（米勒德·菲爾曼爾和格羅弗·克利夫蘭）的故鄉(xiāng)。
布法羅市濱水區(qū)長達37英里，沿岸巨型倉庫林立，為美國和加拿大主要轉(zhuǎn)運港，也是世界著名面粉工業(yè)中心，梅薩比鐵礦石的出口地，鋼鐵、冶煉、汽車、機器等重工業(yè)十分發(fā)達。布法羅是從大西洋沿岸到西部內(nèi)陸的門戶，是美國和加拿大兩國的鐵路貨運中心，公路網(wǎng)稠密發(fā)達，市東有現(xiàn)代化國際機場。市內(nèi)公園遍布，最大的特拉華公園占地365英畝。旅游業(yè)有力地促進了該市的發(fā)展。美國名列前茅的紐約州立大學(xué)布法羅校區(qū)坐落在布法羅市郊，規(guī)模大，聲譽好。另有布法羅德門學(xué)院等一批職業(yè)技術(shù)院校也有較高的辦學(xué)質(zhì)量。
2011年4月27日常州市與布法羅市正式簽約締結(jié)為國際友好城市。
Buffalo is located in Western New Yorkon the
eastern shores of Lake Erie and at the southern head of the Niagara River. It covers
an area of 108.8 square kilometers and has a population of about 280,000.
Buffalo is the hometown of two U.S. presidents (Millard Fillmore and Grover
Cleveland).
The
shore of the Buffalo Waterfront is 37 miles long, along which there are
countless warehouses and distribution centers. The city is the heart of the
Canadian-American corridor, as well as a world-famous flour milling center. As
the exporter of Mesabi iron ore, Buffalo has long been involved in heavy
industries like steel manufacture, smelting,automobile production, machine
production, etc. The city serves as the portal from the Atlantic coast to the
inland west of the United States. It is a major railroad hub between the United
States and Canada. There is a closely-knit network of roads and a modern
international airport in the east of the city. Buffalo has many parks, of which Delaware Park is the largest, covering an area of 365 acres. Tourism plays an important
role in the city's economy. Buffalo State College is the largest comprehensive
college in the State University of New York system. A number of high-quality
trade schools and technical colleges like Daemen College also have
campuses in Buffalo.
Changzhou
and Buffalo were officially twinned as international sister cities on April 27,
2011.
