The 13th Changzhou Municipal Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) commenced on the morning of September 23.
The meeting was chaired by Sheng Lei, acting mayor of Changzhou.
Chen Jinhu, Party chief of Changzhou, delivered the keynote speech on behalf of the 12th CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee.
Members of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee Han Jiuyun, Ji Peidong, Li Wenhong, Fang Guoqiang, Wang Jialiang, and Liang Yibo, also attended the meeting.
The meeting was supervised by Jiang Aijun, head of the re-election work supervision group of the Organization Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee.
A total of 498 Party representatives from the city attended the conference.
Chen stated in his speech the achievements of Changzhou towards great economic strength, high quality of life, a beautiful environment, and a high level of civilization.
He pointed out Changzhou’s approaches to play an active role in China’s new journey to fully build a modern socialist country, laying stress on providing strong political support for socialist modernization.
Also present at the meeting were former city leaders, current city leaders who are non-CPC members, local committee leaders of the eight non-Communist parties, representatives of personages without party affiliation, representatives of the PLA garrison in Changzhou, outstanding CPC members working at the grassroots level, and others.
