A Wuxi opera troupe began its two-month, 20-city tour of China performing the classic local opera Pearl Tower (Zhen Zhu Ta) with a performance in neighboring metropolis Changzhou, Jiangsu province, on March 15.
The debut performance in Changzhou's Hongxing Grand Theater got underway successfully, earning waves of applause. Next, the performance team will head to cities including Nanjing, Tianjin, Chongqing and Guiyang.
Wuxi Opera, commonly known as Wuxi Tanhuang, is one of the three most popular types of opera in East China, and one of the major local operas in Jiangsu province.
