In recent years, Changzhou has been paying high attention to the development of vocational education for the goal of ‘star city of vocational education in China’. In the selection for the National Award of Teaching Achievements, Changzhou was awarded two first prizes and five second prizes in the category of vocational education. The ratio of vocational education and general education in Changzhou has been maintained approximately 1:1 over these years. The employment rate of vocational school students and the passing rate of the evaluation of vocational qualification are both over 98%.
Since the 12th Five-year Plan was initiated, Changzhou has invested more than 2.5 billion yuan on distribution and adjustment of the resources of vocational schools and technical schools. The city’s vocational schools have set up 69 featured programs at national or provincial level, and 18 training bases have been identified as provincial demonstrative training bases.
