In 2014, Changzhou Science & Education Town (CZSET) achieved the full-year targets and the annual revenue of about 6.1 billion yuan, increased by 34.1%. There were 1,662 new patent applications including 445 patents of invention, reaching 247% of the annual target. 198 institutions were newly settled in the town during the year, and the number of technology professionals in CZSET exceeded 16,000.
The construction of the national pilot area for comprehensive reform of higher vocational education in CZSET made great achievements. In the Sixth National CNC Skills Competition, CZSET was awarded three first prizes of the National Award of Teaching Achievements. The town has carried out cooperation with Germany on the dual system of vocational education, which enrolled more than 400 students.
CZSET also organized match-making activities for its R&D institutions and the enterprises in Jintan, Liyang and Wujin. In implementation of the ‘333 Project’, the town enacted relevant supportive policies with diverse initiatives regarding the different situations, types and capacities of the enterprises. 39 enterprises successfully applied for the title of National High-tech Enterprises in 2014, and currently there are 62 national high-tech enterprises in CZSET.
In 2014, there were 10 new venture capital institutions settled in the town, adding capital of one billion yuan. Up to now, there are 52 registered venture capital institutions in CZSET with capital of 7 billion yuan in total. In cooperation with Jiangsu Productivity Promotion Center (JSPC) and the Bank of Jiangsu, the business called ‘special fund loans for risk compensation for technology transfer in Jiangsu’ has approved loans of 20.5 million yuan for 10 enterprises in the town.
