A delegation of 23 people from the Chinese Language and Culture Center of Maine visited Changzhou for cooperation from July 23rd to 24th.
Mr. Shen Lian, Deputy Director of Changzhou Foreign Affairs Office , received the delegation in the Changzhou Municipal Government building in the afternoon of July 23rd. He expressed a warm welcome to the delegation and briefed the delegation on Changzhou and the city’s international exchanges with US. Among all the delegates, Mr. Gerry Palmer used to be Mayor of Bangor, Maine and remains a US-China goodwill messenger. On behalf of the incumbent Mayor of Bangor, Mr. Palmer presented a letter of intent to establish a sister city relationship with Changzhou and gave the Key of Bangor to Changzhou. The key is the second of its kind Bangor has given to Chinese cities and it represents the strong support and sincerity Bangor people and government have for a long-term friendship and cooperation with Changzhou. Besides, the Bangor delegation also invited Changzhou to send a delegation to Bangor to enhance mutual understanding and deepen friendship.
During their stay in Changzhou, the delegates also visited the Changzhou City Planing Hall and Changzhou Broadcasting Center.
Maine is located in the northeastern part of US and is the largest state in New England. It boasts dense forests and beautiful scenes. The Chinese Language and Culture Center of Maine has made great contributions to Sino-US cultural exchanges.
