On the morning of August 7th, Dai Yuan, deputy secretary of Changzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC, met with the delegation headed by Ruben Antonio Bisi, strategy director of Marcopolo S.A., Brazil.
Marcopolo is one of the largest bus and coach manufacturers in the world, with a history of over 62 years. Its commercial offices and manufacturing plants are all over the world. Marcopolo has been cooperating with world renowned chassis manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, Naveco, Scania, etc.
In October 2005, Marcopolo established a branch in Changzhou National Hi-tech District (CND), specialized in the production and sales of bus or coach body and components. Currently, the company plans to set up a new manufacturing project in Changzhou for whole set of bus and chassis, expecting an annual capacity of 1,500 sets of buses and 3,000 chassis to be exported to Southeast Asia, Australia, Russia, Middle East, Africa, Hong Kong, Taiwan, etc.
Dai said that there are lots of bus and auto parts manufacturers in Changzhou and its peripheral areas, as well as many good vocational education bases, which will provide sound supporting resources and excellent talents for the future program of Marcopolo. He hoped that the two sides will speed up cooperation and implement the project step by step.
