On September 6, 2013, the sister city of Liyang, Leeuwarden, known for its rich cultural heritage, was selected as the European Capital of Culture in the Netherlands in 2018. By then, Leeuwarden will launch a series of cultural events, including art exhibition, music appreciation, and so on. This is not only for the city of Leeuwarden to create more jobs and attract more tourists, and, more importantly, it will help further enhance the city’s reputation in the Netherlands and even around the world.
