To further enhance the new think tank and nurture the new advantages for Changzhou to get involved in the progress of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Sino-African collaboration on production capacity, on March 8, Changzhou Municipal Federation of Social Sciences, Changzhou Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, Changzhou Bureau of Commerce and Changzhou Campus of Hohai University jointly established the BRI African Research Center.

Changzhou has maintained more than 50 years of friendly exchanges and economic cooperation with Tanzania, South Africa and other African countries. A number of outstanding local enterprises, such as Changfa Group, Trina Solar, Black Peony Group and Dongfeng Agricultural Machinery, have teamed up in going global and carried out investment and international cooperation actively in Africa.

The center will actively integrate the resources of all social sectors and undertake   special tasks assigned annually by Changzhou Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and Changzhou Bureau of Commerce. Meanwhile, it will carry out research on African economy, culture, environment, society, and so on to provide theoretical guidance for Changzhou’s implementation of BRI and international collaboration on production capacity.
