On July 14, a Changzhou economic delegation headed by Qi Jiabin, secretary of CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee, and Chen Jinhu, mayor of Changzhou Municipal People’s Government, arrived in Shanghai.
Qi Jiabin first visited China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, a state-owned enterprise headquartered in Shanghai. As of May 31, 2020, the total fleet of COSCO SHIPPING comprises of 1,330 vessels with a capacity of 107.10 million DWT, ranking No.1 in the world. In 2019, the annual throughput of its Changzhou branch amounted to 111,200 TEU, taking 34.6% of Changzhou Port’s total throughput volume, serving customers like China Resources Group, China National Salt Industry Group, Changmao Biochemical Engineering, Trina Solar, Greenworks Tools, Risen Energy, Almaden Photovoltaic, EGing Photovoltaic Technology, Ruixin Smart Medical, etc.
In his meeting with Wang Haimin, director of COSCO Shipping Corporation, Qi said that Changzhou is very strong in the manufacturing industry, which has nurtured over 200 “hidden champions”, a variety of supporting industries and a high-potential logistics market. He hopes to receive more support from the Corporation so that Changzhou enterprises can enjoy better logistics services with lower costs. The CPC Changzhou Municipal Committee and the Municipal Government will continue to support the development of the Corporation’s Changzhou branch.
Wang Haimin highly appreciated local government’s support and assistance to its Changzhou branch over the past 22 years. Going forward, the Corporation will enhance communications and cooperation with Changzhou to improve its logistics services locally and help the Changzhou Port to achieve higher export efficiency.
